I decided to return to school to pursue my MBA in Healthcare Management at Herzing from a recommendation of a family friend that attended the university. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina, which lacked a lot of healthcare professionals. This situation inspired me to start my education along with some extra encouragement from my grandmother!
Working full-time and being a student during the COVID-19 pandemic was very stressful. Thankfully, I had a strong support system that kept me motivated to accomplish my goals. Herzing provided me with the flexibility to complete my courses in eight-week segments. Each course prepared me for what to expect once I got into the workforce.
I was able to accomplish working at my own pace without having to take prerequisites before I started, which was a huge help. I believe the critical thinking and decision-making classes helped me think outside of the box and provide real-life scenarios to prepare for the future.
I believe that my purpose is to help people in need. I want to use what I learned to go back to my small rural community and manage the hospital there. It is my passion to work in a low-income area to help fill the needs and shortage of health care professionals!
